August updates

Trails are in fine form. Signage is still being put up and a map is close to completion. We will be installing a trailhead sign and a map at the Whitewater brewery, as we see the majority of people parking there to access the trails. 

Our recommended loop, from the brewery, is to take a right onto Grant Settlement road and head up the gentle hill to 2180. Take the gravel road at 2180 to the first trail, Dirk-Dirka, on the left. Travelling this way will have you loop back to the brewery. 

Heading left onto Grant Settlement from the brewery and riding 1km will take you to Chuck- a-Moon trail, which leads to Moon Lake and the coliseum Rapid. This trail finishes at the end of the gravel access road so exiting is either back on the trail or up the dirt road. 

For more single track, head 3.5km from the brewery straight up Fletcher road (gravel). At the stop sign take a right and then an immediate left into the County Forest parking lot. Borca just received permission to sign these trails so we will attacking this project very shortly. 

Please: 

-remember that our trails are on private land, so respect signage 

-keep it clean, pack out what you packed in

-do not swim in the moving water/rapids, ever!

July Updates

BORCA has been busy installing cedar posts and trail name signs within the Whitewater Trails located in and around the Whitewater Brewery (which, in case you weren't aware, is now fully open as a PUB!) The recommended loop starts at the brewery and takes a right turn onto Grant Settlement Rd, just 1km up the paved road to 2180 Grant Settlement Rd and from there you can ride singletrack back to the brewery. For more riding head 4km up Fletcher Rd to the Beachburg County Forest trails where some fast and flowy singletrack awaits you.
We have a map close to being done and it will readily available for all, once completed, along with a large trailhead sign/map at the brewery.

BORCA has also been busy with the 'Friends of Little Lakes' group, enhancing a local swim spot just 1km outside of Beachburg. To date the FOLL have raised over a $1000 of cash and in-kind donations, picked up two trailer loads of grabage, create a garden, a trail, some fishing platforms and will be purchasing some picnic tables and a floating swim raft....a great post-ride cool-down on a hot day!

Events: Tour de Bonnechere (TBD) is happening August 17th, in Eganville. There's a 100k, 60k or Family Ride (to the Bonnechere Caves). It's a Pot Luck style post-race/awards. The TDB is a 'ride' and not a 'race' with an amazing atmosphere and the route includes some of the Valley's toughest climbs (Foymount Hill, Letterkenny, etc....).

Spring Chicken Registration Is Open. Event is May 10th, 2014 - Beachburg,ON

Spring Chicken Updates:

Pre race: Start & Finish will remain same as last year, that is, all racers report to 631 Government Road (Beachburg County Forest). Awards will be given at finish line, once the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place arrive. Post Race: Draw-prizes will be pre-drawn and available at the Beachburg Arena along with complimentary racers food and refreshments (Whitewater Brewery) AND of course the Bake Sale is also at the arena, post race. (Should you wish to bring something for the Bake Sale, please email borcabeachburg@gmail.com to arrange drop-off at arena pre-race).

New Categories: We are offering for 2014, a 10km and 5km MTB Enduro categories, great for first timers!

Kids event is for those 10 or under and is roughly 1.5km in length (simple route, a perfect 'first race'). If your child ( 10 or older) has race experience, we recommend the 5km route

Winter is upon us

The snow is down, trails covered for only a week now and already some fatbike tread marks making an appearance!

BORCA will continue, at a reduced level, to clear and manage the trails during the winter season.
